Malaysia Grand Prix Gold: Busanan Ongbumrungpan advances into Women?s Singles quarter-final
Thailand?s aggressive player Busanan Ongbumrungpan continued her steady progress and reached into Women?s Singles quarter-final after defeating her compatriot Sarita Suwannakitborihan in round-of-16 clash of Yonex Sunrise Malaysia Grand Prix Gold 2013 on Thursday, May 2, in Malaysia.
The second seeded Ongbumrungpan, who played tremendous badminton in all matches of the tournament, continued her dominating performance and remained successful in crushing her lower ranked team-mate in just 28 minutes.
The higher ranked Ongbumrungpan did not show any mercy to her country-mate at any stage in the championship and remained successful in ending up this pre-quarter-final clash in straight sets with a stunning 21-13 and 21-11 score on the board.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Sarita failed to play aggressive badminton as she could not match the pace of rallies at any stage. She tried to stop the advancement of her challenger but failed and ended up in losing the match in straight games with a one-sided margin.
Ongbumrungpan performed extremely well from the initial rallies of first game as she played with wonderful speed and took over the control of the game.
The in-form Ongbumrungpan showed that she has attained top class skills on court and ultimately successful in taking a strong position in the arena.
The higher ranked Thai lady advanced with an impressive speed in the first half and remained in lead on score board until the interval.
Meanwhile, the confused Sarita failed to create trouble for her rival after the one-minute break as she lost her focus in the arena.
Ongbumrungpan did not slow down the pace of the game at any stage and comfortably grabbed the first game with a lopsided 21-13 margin on the board.
Things were not much different in the second game of this entertaining match as Ongbumrungpan played in the similar dominating manner.
The hard to return smashes and wonderful net play kept Ongbumrungpan ahead of her challenger all the way until the end of first part in second set.
Sarita failed to show strong performance in the second set of this fight as her opponent Ongbumrungpan played aggressive badminton and took the set with a stunning 21-11 score on the board.
